Peel Land and Property want to transform the Hulton Park into a global ‘mega event’ destination with a view to hosting the Ryder Cup.

The Vision

Wider plans include 1,000 new homes, a luxury hotel and conference centre on the site of the former Hulton Hall, a primary school, health facilities new infrastructure and a new and improved Hulton Trail designed to make it more accessible to local people.

The project involves restoring the estate’s historical features, including the lost lakes woodland and walled gardens. The development proposes to deliver significant social and economic benefits for the local area, Greater Manchester, the North West and on a national scale, in terms of new homes, heritage restoration and principally through golfing legacy arising through hosting one major sporting events.

The Benefits

The overall net value of the socio-economic impact of the development and the Ryder Cup, across the UK, has been assessed at £1.2bn. The development proposes to bring a wide range positive impacts in terms of:

  • Skills – bringing new opportunities in sport, health, hospitality, construction and other sectors, and by working with local skills and education providers to maximise local benefit
  • Participation – encouraging participation in sport and active healthy living, through the proposed golf academy and centre of excellence, and wider outreach and partnership programmes
  • Tourism – Hulton Park will attract UK and international visitors, complementing Greater Manchester’s status as the UK’s second most visited tourism market and as an international capital of sporting attractions
  • Investment – the proposals will directly and indirectly facilitate major business investment into the local and wider area
